MUD MISSION & VISSION

Mission:
MUD exists to create a replicable model of sustainable living through education, demonstration, and celebration in the Missoula community.

Vision Statements:

Regarding our community
I. People in Missoula fully understand and embrace sustainable living practices; the benefits to the lifestyle are compelling and clear to them.
II. Missoulians from young people to retirees are engaged in, learning about, and accessing sustainable living opportunities and practices.
III. Policies in City and County government support and incentivize sustainable choices.
IV. Residents fully utilize our libraries of tools and vehicles, workshops, demonstrations, materials, and both on-site and on-line learning opportunities.
V. There is high recognition of MUD’s logo and programs, and great attendance at the events we host.
VI. Our site(s) demonstrate sustainability that conveys their applicability and ease of use to all homeowners and renters. They are easily visitable by people of all abilities and ages.

Internally as an organization
I. MUD is staffed with people who are highly qualified, receive good salaries and benefits, and we are a sought-after, very desirable place to work.
II. MUD has both a strong membership and a variety of other solid funding sources.
III. MUD has ample and enthusiastic volunteers – including Board members – to help with everything we provide the community.

On December 18, 2009, a bakers' dozen of curious individuals gathered for a workshop at a forge on Missoula's Northside. These folks, most of whom were MUD members, were there to learn an ancient craft - blacksmithing.

2 New S's - New Sewing Skills and New SNOW!

On Saturday, Dec. 12, “teacher”, Anne Little, and five “students” gathered at the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) to learn some basic sewing skills. Before we were done we had 5 new shopping bags and 1” of new snow outside. Drink to Your Health- Homebrew Your Own Beer!

We had a fantastic time at MUD’s most recent brewing workshop. We made a dry Irish Stout and bottled an Extra Pale Ale while we went over the basics of extract brewing.
