NEW MUD LOGOS!
As the Missoula Urban Demonstration Project heads into its 30th
year, we are pleased to unveil a new look for one of Missoula’s
oldest nonprofit sustainability organizations. In November 2009,
MUD’s outreach and membership committee began re-designing the MUD
logo, as well as developing logo icons for each of MUD’s major
programs.
PROCESS
We submitted a Request for Designs to local artists and graphic
designers, asking for a cohesive look and feel for MUD that clearly
and creatively represents the organization. In response, we
received several distinct and wonderful designs suites. Following
an extensive review process, we selected the submission of local
designer Alton Helm.
OUTCOME
In October 2010, we excitedly made public the new MUD logo, a
refined, modern interpretation of MUD, foreshadowing our next 30+
years. We are in the process of finalizing the program icons, so be
on the lookout for those in the next few weeks.

MUD is an essential part of the Missoula
community. MUD is committed to providing hands-on, quality
learning experiences to community members from all walks of life.
Our Youth Education Program in Sustainability (YEP!), Backyard
Sustainability Workshops, Tool Library, Truck Share and
Demonstration Site programs provide grassroots examples of how
working together can help us all become more self-sufficient.
MUD is still located in the Northside neighborhood, where it was
founded nearly thirty years ago. Today it is the only place in
Missoula where adults can gain hands-on experience with gardening,
fixing a lawn mower or their vehicle, and a wide variety of other
do-it-yourself projects and skills. Between the Tool Library and
Backyard Sustainability Workshop series alone, MUD's volunteer
instructors share expert knowledge with nearly 2,000 Missoulians
every year.
Together, we are building a more sustainable community.
