The primary project goals are to:
1. Purchase bare land next to Home Resource, a local building materials re-use facility, as part of a proposed "Sustainable Living Center" -- a one-stop shopping destination for sustainable living resources repeatedly endorsed by the City of Missoula (at the intersection of Wyoming and Russell Streets).
2. Utilize and showcase low-cost, "green" construction techniques to build the new Missoula Tool Library and Truck Share facilities at the purchased location and transfer all tools, trucks, and personnel in preparation for a grand opening.
3. Open the new location to public with expanded hours, and engage in city-wide promotion of these programs by July of 2012.
Currently, the Missoula Tool Library and Truck Share programs serve over 200 Missoulians annually--over 70% of whom are low to moderate income (according to HUD guidelines).
The expansion & relocation will enable a projected 500 additional households throughout Missoula to access the tools, transportation, and sustainability best practices that make home maintenance and ownership more affordable.
EXPANSION & RELOCATION SITE MAP

MUD established the Missoula Tool Library in 1997. MUD's is the only tool-lending library in the state and one of just 20-30 in the nation. Since it began, the Missoula Tool Library has come to serve hundreds of members with over 980 tools. (Click logo on left to learn more about the Tool Library).
In 2007, MUD launched the Missoula Truck Share, the sole car-share program in Montana, which received the Missoula in Motion Transportation Best Practices Award that year. Since then the Missoula Truck Share fleet has doubled to meet demand. (Click logo on left to learn more about the Truck Share).
