MUD's Truck Share Wins Best Practices Award from Missoula in Motion
The Truck Share Program was launched in 2007. Since
then the program has attracted twenty-five members and now it has garnered a
community award.
Missoula In Motion is a program designed to help local businesses,
institutions and individuals address
transportation issues within the Missoula community. Every year it offers
its Best Practices Award to a
business or organization that has shown leadership in alternative
transportation.
MUD competed with fifteen other groups and was unanimously voted to receive
this year's award. A
$1,000 cash prize and TV commercial to promote the program comes with the
award. Needless to say
MUD is honored and excited to receive this award.
The Truck Share uses a 1991 Nissan King Cab pickup truck donated by
AJ Johnston of Missoula. MUD carries the
insurance and performs the maintenance.
A Truck Share membership costs $20 per
year. To qualify for the truck rental, a
person must be a member of MUD, have
a good driving record, and be at least
21 years old. The truck can be reserved
24 hours in advance Monday through
Friday by calling MUD at 721-7513.

New Greywater System!
Missoula Urban Demonstration Project hosted the installation of a new
greywater system by the Greywater Guerrillas on Sunday, November 11th.
The system will distribute water used in the 1st-floor bathtub. Its most
visible component is a large, gravel-filled stock trough beside the back
steps--soon to be filled with cattails and other beautiful wetland
plants! [click here to learn more]
